OUR TEAM

Tod Brown co-founded Moriah Real Estate Company (MREC) in 2008. Tod also co-founded MRI and Petroleum Strategies. MRI was formed in 1992 to acquire oil and natural gas reserves. Petroleum Strategies was formed in 1991 to serve as a qualified intermediary in connection with the execution of Section 1031 transactions. The company has come to be recognized as the leader in the industry, facilitating over $35 billion in real property transactions. Tod has been the principal force behind the millions of equity raised for the MREC ventures and is responsible for investor relations and financial analysis of the transaction deal flow. Tod obtained a Bachelor of Science degree, with honors, from Abilene Christian University


Alfred Branch co-founded MREC in 2008. Prior to that, he served as the Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer at Oklahoma Christian University. Alfred oversaw all day-to-day operations of the university including its annual $40mm budget. He also served as president of two of the university's subsidiary corporations that own, manage and develop commercial and senior living property to support the university. He oversaw the development of more than $38 million in retail and multi-family housing projects. Prior to joining Oklahoma Christian in 1999, Alfred was Managing Director of Trammell Crow Company (TCC) in Oklahoma City. His responsibilities at TCC included the brokerage, property management and development operations for 150 employees and over 6 million square feet of property including the management of the corporate facilities for Kerr-McGee and Hertz corporations. During Alfred's twelve-year tenure with TCC, he gained extensive experience in project leasing, investment acquisitions, dispositions and project management prior to his appointment to manage the operations. Alfred is a 1984 graduate of Oklahoma Christian University and graduated with honors with an MBA from the University of Texas in Austin.


Alan Brown has been a licensed attorney in Texas for over 20 years and was formerly a partner at the Midland, Texas law firm of Lynch, Chappell & Alsup. He serves as President and General Counsel for Petroleum Strategies, a qualified intermediary that has facilitated over $35 billion of like kind exchange transactions. He also serves as CEO of Carbon Creek Energy, a private equity backed energy company with assets in the Powder River Basin of Wyoming. Alan holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Abilene Christian University and a Juris Doctor from Pepperdine University.


Will Lunsford
is a President at the Moriah Group and leads the Moriah Direct Investment group comprised of over 9 different companies valued at over $40 million. A twenty-year veteran of the financial services world, Will is seasoned in understanding and meeting the objectives of high net-worth individuals, successful professionals and family offices. After graduating summa cum laude from Abilene Christian University in 1989, Will continued his career-related education by earning the coveted financial planning designations of Certified Financial Planner (CFP™), Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC), and Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU). He also secured Series 6, 7, 9, 10, and 63 registrations from the NASD. Will was formerly affiliated with Raymond James Financial Services as a Branch Manager and member of their Executive Council.


Tyler Harris
joined Moriah Group in 2015 and is currently a Managing Director with Moriah Energy Investments, an investment strategy focused on oil and gas opportunities. Following his graduation from the University of Oklahoma (BAC/BBA), Tyler practiced public accounting with KPMG and Ernst and Young. After returning to school at Rice University (MBA), Tyler worked for Lehman Brothers and ultimately Barclays Capital in the Natural Resources group and later joined Bank of America / Merrill Lynch. During his time in investment banking, he focused on mergers and acquisitions, capital markets transactions, and other advisory services. In 2013, Tyler moved to West Texas as the CFO at FireWheel Energy, an independent exploration and production company focused in the Permian Basin.
